Run DMC Overview
Run-DMC is a pioneering American hip-hop group that formed in the early 1980s. Comprising of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell, the group is widely considered one of the most influential acts in the history of hip-hop music.
The group is known for its unique style, characterized by its use of hard-hitting beats, catchy rhymes, and its unique fashion sense, incorporating Adidas sneakers and black fedoras. Run-DMC became one of the first rap groups to gain mainstream success, and they are credited with helping to bring hip-hop music into the mainstream.
Their debut album, “Run-D.M.C”, was released in 1984 and was a huge commercial success, it spawned hit singles like “Rock Box” and “It’s Like That”, and was certified gold.
